The need for 21st-century skills permeates every level of the conservation organisation. Whether at the entry-level, middle management or top-management level, professionals must make decisions that affect the growth of the sector.
Today’s conservation professionals need a broad range of managerial, financial, entrepreneurial and leadership skills that will enable them to make a lasting impact. To meet this need, SOWC runs a specialised 10-month leadership training programme through a conservation lens to with practical insights from carefully curated conservation topics and mentorship from leading conservation experts.

Our Approach

Pathway participants are taken through a four-phased leadership model with 10 modules that cut across self, people, commercial and strategic leadership. The programme is structured as a series of distance-learning courses delivered virtually on a monthly basis.

Participants will be equipped with tools and frameworks to use in their organizations, undergo leadership challenges to directly apply their learning to real projects, and perform leadership diagnostics to best evaluate their performances.

Who is it for?

The Leadership Pathway for Conservation Professionals is designed for professionals, industry technicians and entrepreneurs with at least 1 - 5 years of work experience in a sector that manages, impacts or depends on conservation. Examples of such sectors include:
